PSU works on a PSU test but not in PC

I just bought this PSU, connected it all up, tested it, no life. (620w btw) so i try with just actual mobo cables, still no life. I take it back as dead and they get it working on one of those testing stations and all rails etc work, i bring it home connect it up and still get the same problem, no life, I connect another PSU up, same cable, same mobo cables etc. and that works. So I know the psu and the pc works, so what should i do?

I also tested it on my dads PC, P5B deluxe x6800 etc and it doesn't work, my pc is socket 939 3000 AMD, the PSU is at the store being tested but if they don't find a fault I have a PSU that doesn't work in my house (will try at a mates or something) and no way of using it, me (a student) being almost a £100 out of pocket.

If its working on a PSU tester then there likely some other problem. Did you have all of the power connected to the devices in your system like HDD and CD-Rom and Fans? Also what is the make and model of your MB and did you see the standby LED on the MB light up?

Like I have said, I have tried it on 2 PC's 1 with all recent components, corsair ram, p5b deluxe, x6800, 7950gx2, and mine which is 3000amd, 6600gt, 939 foxconn mobo, etc, have tried with AND without components and the SAME setup works with my old PSU

No mobo lights up on the P5B with the power supply turned on etc.

I'm having a similar problem with my 620w PSU. I'm also running a socket 939 Foxconn motherboard (NF4UK8AA)... according to the user's manual, there should be no problem hooking up this power supply... yet the machine won't power on at all. I'm about to test the PSU in a different computer... I'll keep you posted.

** Update **

PSU works fine in other computer running non-Foxconn mobo.

RAM GUY, I was finally able to ring OCUK today and get some information, they have confirmed it is faulty and are supplying me with a new one.

That guy who smugly told me it must be something I am doing should watch what he is saying before he opens his mouth, embarrased me infront of people saying it works and then real tests prove it doesn't.

Hopefully this one will work, I'm certain it will, rare that Corsair stuff has problems as is. *touch wood*

Will add a reply with the results of the new one when I get in.

Thanks again.

Have you changed any other components than the PSU, what type of video card are you using? I would suggest that you update to the latest BIOS for your motherboard (using the old PSU). You may also want to contact the MB manufacturer and see what ATX spec the board supports. If the PSU is working on a different system, then your motherboard is either not compatible with the PSU or there is an issue with the motherboard. Can you confirm that you have the 24-pin, 4-pin, and Molex connectors all connected to the board?

There are some nforce-4 939 boards that will overvolt the 5v standby rail out of spec when booting, and on our power supply this will trigger over current/voltage protection and shut down the PSU to prevent damage to the system. Lower quality PSUs do not have overvoltage protection and will allow these systems to boot normally. It is possible that your board is not compatible with our power supply.

Cheers for clearing it up, knew it would be the mobo :(

Another feature that makes the Power Supply another 100% better than competitors.

I am getting a new PC soon so thats all good. Cheers for the help RAM Guy!
