Pierre2k
Hi Ram Guy/Anyone else that can help, I have decided recently to build myself a new Athlon 64 based system. Currently the spec is going to be: Athlon 64 3400+ 1Gb DDR400 Ram Asus K8V Deluxe 256 mb Radeon 9800XT etc etc Now I keep hearing about all these RAM compatability issues. I was planning on using Corsair Twinx 2x512MB XMS3200LL DDR memory on the ASUS K8V board and wanted to make sure it is compatible. Could you also give me any pointers with regards to setting the memory up and any settings I should impliment? Thanks for the help, Pierre2k

65stang
you have to have registered memory for the athlon 64. Just make sure when you purchase the memory it tells you its "registered" which is for use in athlon 64 systems, this will ensure compatability
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 24, 2004 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 24, 2004 Well for AMD64 FX you would need to use registered memory. But with this MB you would need to use non-registered or un-buffered memory like CMX512-3200LL or if you want 1.0 Gig Twinx1024-3200LL and install them in slots 1-3 and set the timings manually to the tested settings and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and you should be good to go!
