620hx oddity

Recommended Posts

Now I am not 100% sure if this is a power supply problem, but I have tried almost everything else, including RMA'ing the motherboard. The psu does turn on when I use the "paper clip" trick. However, when I plug the cables into the motherboard, I get absolutely nothing.

Any suggestions?

It could be a faulty power switch in your case, if the circuit is not closed the board won't boot. It's one of those small problems that can create headaches that last weeks :)

Does the mainboard show any signs of power being applied when you connect it and switch it on? Any LEDs on the board light up?

Do you have another system you can try the PSU in and with a HDD and a FAN connected use a paper clip and short out the green wire and one of the Black Wires and see if the PSU will power on.
