Ghostrider333
Hi Folks, I recently DIYed a PC with Gigabyte N680SLI-DQ6 motherboard, Q6600 processor along with 2x2GB of Value Select PC5300/667MHZ ram. The system was running perfectly fine except when trying to shut down windows xp pro sp2. The CPU, casing, graphic card fans when still running with a hanged windows shutting down screen. Removing one of the 2GB memory solved the issue and the system shuts down normally. Is there a compatibility issue with this ram on the gigabyte board? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 26, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 26, 2007 No there is no issue and failing memory will not cause that symptom, have you tested the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org to make sure there is not a failing module? And do you have the latest BIOS and did you try and load setup defaults and then set the memory Voltage to +.2 Volts and see if the problem remains? Also was this a fresh install of the O.S. on this system or did you do move the HDD from another system?
garyscerni
I have the same issue when shutting down windows the shut down screen displays and the computer will now turn off. This does not happen when I have two modules in my computer. I recently added two additional 1 gig chips and now the system will not turn off unless I kill the power. Here Here Have you contacted Gigabyte on this issue? It seems as though you are not the only ones experiencing it. Are you overclocking? What settings are you using in your BIOS? With 4 1GB Sticks, you will have to set your DRAM down to 800MHz to 1066Mhz. Set the Vdimm to 2.2v and the MCH to +.05v
