Mystery RAM

I have a homebuilt Tyan Tiger K8W Dual AMD Opteron S2875 mobo. The only RAM that has worked so far isn't supposed to it is a PC2700 DDR SDRAM 128X72 with the serial "1 GBUGSRZUXBA". What the Tyan website (http://www.tyan.com/archive/support/html/memory_s2875.html) recomends for PC2700 (DDR 333) Memory Modules is CM72SD1024RLP-2700/M (MT46V64MTG-6T C) or CM74SD1024RLP-2700/S (K4H560438D-TCB3). What I recently bought that does not work is CM72SD1024RLP-2700/S.

What I need to know is WHAT works? The stick that I got is going bad. I bought 2 sticks and one went totally bad and now this one is showing the same symptoms, and no I can't find where I originally got the 1st 2 sticks. :(:

I ordered from the configurator but without the final "/s" which I think it has something to do with Samsung. I tried each module individually also both together and the pc would not boot. It only boots with the old stick or with a combination of that stick and another 2Gb ECC registered stick. I have to use 2700 as the mobo I got stipulates that 3200 will not work unless I have a "C-stepping CPU" I can't even find out what that means much less find one. :sigh!:

1. old memory failing, need fresh blood,

2. bought two new modules that are supposed to be compatible,

[trivia-- cannot use 3200 as do not have C-stepping CPU]

3. pc will not start with any single stick or combo that does not include the

old failing RAM (that I am trying to replace)

4. old failing RAM is-- PC2700 DDR SDRAM 128X72 with the number

"1 GBUGSRZUXBA" on it. [the other extra ECC stick is superfluous for now]

5. purchased Corsair RAM is CM72SD1024RLP-2700/S pc2700R-25330-Z1

Serial numbers: 07020237-0 -313974 and 07020237-0 -313975.

:sigh!:

(actually I need an icon tearing my hair out).

  • 3 weeks later...

I got CPU-Z and it tells me about the sticks that work are DDR Frequency 159.6 CAS# Latence 2.5 ..., PC 2700 (166Mhz) ECC Registered Note buffered, EPP no Part # 1GBUGSRZUXBA Serial 66514133. Where can I find some memory like this one?

Also I cleared the BIOS with no effect to the bootability for the RAM.

That is what I bought  But my pc will not boot with it in the slot by itself. It will boot with that stick in one of the later slots but I need it to boot by itself because what I have is failing. :[pouts:
