Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 11, 2007 The utility we suggest would be http://www.truecrypt.com, but short of that there should not be any drivers needed.

paulmat
I am sorry but the Corsair FV Utility will not be updated and will not work with newer drives. Hi, With which standard software are thus provided the new red GT Flash Corsair Voyager running under Vista ? This software is the same Flash Voyager Utility provided with the blue simple Corsair Flash Voyager, and if yes, is this utility running under Vista or only XP ? Thanks And how to make, under Vista, to reach the files of my private zone created with the Flash Voyager utility under XP? Thanks
paulmat
Hi, In the bundle of the new (red colour) GT Corsair Flash Voyager USB, which software Utility is provided with? This software functions under XP? Under Vista? Is it on the CD or directly the key? Is this provided Utility different from free software TrueCrypt 4.3 ? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 10, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 10, 2007 It will be on the drive if its not on the CD. And it will be True Crypt and should work with Vista and XP Both, if not just get the latest version from http://www.truecrypt.com
paulmat
Under Vista, It is thus impossible to read the files of the private zone which I did create under XP with the utility of my blue Corsair Flash Voyager ? I must format it and use obligatorily TrueCrypt under Vista if i want use it?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 10, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 10, 2007 That should not happen unless the user name you log in as is different.
paulmat
Hi, Could you specify your last answer. Thank you.
paulmat
You answer me : « I will be on the drive if its not on the CD. And it will be True Crypt and should work with Vista and XP both, if not just get the latest version from http://www.truecrypt.com ». In fact, the new red keys GT are not provided with a specific software like the old version “Corsair Flash Utility” provided with the blue Corsair Flash Voyager and functioning only under XP., TrueCrypt being a free software! It is not very commercial, because the new red keys GT become keys without specific protection like the old blue keys! What do you think about it? paulmat
Moreover, as you know it, TrueCrypt posts, at the place where put it to you, the name of the container, this which was not the case with flash Utility! Which the true technical reasons have which make that flash Utility does not function under Vista? And why Corsair doesn't it update this Flash utility for Vista? All the software are updated for Vista one day or the other! Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 11, 2007 Flash Voyager GT has the software on the drive, and does not come with CD, if you are having a problem between the two versions of the O.S. I would suggest contacting http://www.truecrypt.com and see what they have to say. Or we can always replace the drive for you if you like. Let's get it replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or *New* Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum! paulmat
Sorry, but you never answer exactly my questions, and you always speak to me about TRUECRYPT! I do not want to use TRUECRYPT with my Corsair Flash Voyager (blue), but I want to use it under XP and Vista with the special Corsair Flash Utility. In fact, TRUECRYPT is not appropriate to me on the level of safety, because the name of the TrueCrypt file-hosted volume (containers) appears in light! On the other hand, if a person finds my blue Corsair Flash Voyager protected by Corsair Flash Utility, and connects on its PC, he cannot know that I have a private zone, and it is thus more making safe. I thus put back you my questions: ::biggrin: 1) Why Corsair doesn't it update this Flash Utility for Vista? All the software are updated for Vista one day or the other! 2) Which the true technical reasons have which make that flash Utility does not function under Vista? Thank you for your 2 answers. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 11, 2007 1) Why Corsair doesn't it update this Flash Utility for Vista? All the software are updated for Vista one day or the other! A: I am sorry I don't have an answer, other than what I have already stated, " The newer drives are not compatible with the older software. And at this time there is no plan to compile a new version of the software. That is the best I can tell you! 2) Which the true technical reasons have which make that flash Utility does not function under Vista? A: It was not wrote for Win Vista and will not in most cases let you install it.You are welcome to try it. But again I have not seen it working in Windows Vista except the Beta Version of Vista. excelgrad
Hi, I wanted to extend the questions posed on this thread: #1. truecrypt is free ware is it any good? (I don't have a lot of experience with this type of software). #2. I noticed about a 6% difference between the stated value and what the OS sees. I'm guesing thats about right on? #3. The hd utility site someone mentioned is in japanese with some weird file extension. .lzh . I tried to download and change it to .exe , it gives me an error and won't install (I am running windows xp 64 pro). is there another benchmarking utility I could try? #4. I see the flash drive seems to come pre-formatted with Fat-32. If I'm running win xp 64 with NTFS would I be better formatting the flash drive with NTFS or Fat 32 for better compatability? If I want to experiment with booting from usb or virtualization would true crypt be sufficient to partition the usb flash drive? Does it have sufficient ability to defrag? How will all this affect "the lifespan" of the drive? #5. I looked on a popular download site, I found VirtualLab Data Recovery 5.5.15 Is this one of the better data recovery softwares? #6. The flash drive said it would come with a cd of drivers and utilities, yet there was nothing in the packaging ??? what gives... *** thanks to anyone who is able to answer all my questions. I know that these are a ton of questions by a newbie.

paulmat
Hi, Do you recognize that with TrueCryt 4.3 Utility and Vista, the name of the TrueCrypt file-hosted volume (containers) appears in light! Is it possible to make so that they do not appear? Thanks
paulmat
Hi, Which would be the company which, possibly, could plan a new compilation of the original Flash Corsair Utility for Vista, and which would be the contacts (name, adress and phone) of their service development? Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 17, 2007 That is posted under our main web page in Company/Contacts, but with the question you had you would need to contact True Crypt.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted September 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 13, 2007 No the old version may not see our newer drives irregardless of size. In addition, if it does see the drive it may not function properly.
