tedward
The recommended ram is: VS512MB266, PC2100. I wanted a 2x512mb kit, but the vendor I use only has: VS1GBKIT400, which is the same thing except it's PC3200. I know this should work...it should be backward compatible & run at PC2100, but I'd appreciate confirmation. Please advise. Thank you!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 6, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 6, 2007 No that system may not post with faster memory installed, please use the memory that is listed for your system.

RJLeong65
To add to the RAM GUY's comments: OEM systems like your Dell 2350 system have no provision at all whatsoever to manually set the memory speed. And nowadays, PC3200 memory have no SPD programming at all whatsoever for anything below PC2700. And since your system is strictly PC2100, and requires memory modules with an SPD programmed for PC2100 speed, your system will end up failing to detect any SPD at all if you put in a PC3200 module, resulting in your system failing to even POST at all.
