cradleofphil
I bought 2 sticks of 1gb VS1GSDS333 ram (document number 45-00030) and put them both in my laptop This link to my exact lap top: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=442915&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us When I boot my laptop it hangs on the boot log screen (compaq logo screen) Please let me know if this ram is incompatible with my laptop and if so I would like to exchange the 2 brand new 1gb sticks of VS1GSDS333 for 2 brand new 1gb sticks that will work with my compaq laptop. Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks, Phil
cradleofphil
I just got off the phone with Newegg.com and they are willing to send me a replacement via expedited shipping. But before I tell them to do that I need to hear from a ram tech rep responding to my laptop question (the first post in this thread). Please please please get back to me ASAP with a reply so I can tell them to ship me a replacement or not, because either the ram I stated above is INCOMPATIBLE with my laptop or its a BAD BATCH of 2 sticks of 1gb each. PLEASE let me know ASAP, Thanks, Phil
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 1, 2007 According to HP those modules should work in that system, did you try them one at a time and have you checked for the latest Bios for your system?
cradleofphil
If trying them one at a time, which slot do I use to test only 1? The upper slot (under keyboard) or the lower slot? I am pretty sure I have the latest Bios but I will have to put the old ram in to find out. I would like to test one stick like you said first so let me know which slot I should use. Thanks for your quick reply, cause if we can get to the bottom of this I can get newegg to ship out a replacement today if in time. Thanks agan, Phil
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 1, 2007 They should be labled slot 1-2 or A-B just use slot 1 or A but I don't think it matters. Also try and see if you can load setup defaults in the Bios setup that may solve that but test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. cradleofphil
Ok I put my old ram back in, went into bios, confirmed it is the newest version. Then I did as you said - set bios back to defaults. Then saved and exited then shut down. Then I put one 1gb stick in the lower first, and booted up and it saw it and didn't hang. Then shut down, put in the upper 1gb stick and booted and it saw both and didn't hang. Thanks for your quick reply and helping me get to the bottom of the issue. Problem solved and I don't need to do any returns with newegg.com Thanks again!
