FTB
I recently bought the above ram (2 matched sticks of CM2X1042-5400C4) and it's causing problems with the sound in some games - not all - that I play. It causes a huge buzzing sound to occur instead of the game sound. The thing is, it only happens when the actual gameplay starts; menu sounds and intro sounds are fine. And some of my games are totally unaffected. I have an Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe motherboard, and I have a feeling it may be the cause, though I don't know why :sigh!: The other problem is that I can't run memtest because for some unknown reason, the BIOS doesn't see anything on the disk when I boot it up. But that's for another day. So have you heard of this problem before? Is it bad ram or my motherboard, or something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 1, 2007 Your PSU is not big enough for the Video card you have listed it needs about 24-30 amps as I remember. Do you have another Video card you can test the system with?
FTB
Oh I actually just got that card today and everything's fine; until today I had a 7600 and the memory problem has been happening since I put the new ram in, over a week ago now. I forgot to say: I also suspect my sound card because it's about 6 1/2 years old now. Would the amount of RAM have any effect on the sound card? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 1, 2007 If the problem is intermittent that might also suggest some other problem, but I don't have a problem replacing your modules if you like!
FTB
Well it's not that the problem is intermittent, just that certain games always have the buzz, while others were never affected at all. I forgot to put in my profile - I'm from Australia. I would like to replace them if it's possible. I can probably claim it through warranty with the business I bought it from, but a reference from you would be good. Many thanks.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 1, 2007 This post is the reference, but just to be clear memory will not cause your system to BUzz, at least I have never seen bad memory cause that symptom. That would power or driver related.
