CM2X1024-6400C4 issue

Greetings:

I have an Asus P5B deluxe with 2x512 5400 corsair memory now. I swapped it out for CM2X1024-6400C4 - set the bios to defaults and tried to boot - it gets to the XP logo and reboots - constantly. Sometimes it shows random colors on the screen as well. I put the 5400 mem back in and it's fine. Supposedly this mem is recommended (enthusiast) for this MB. I have tried both sets of mem slots - same issue.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Chris

Do you have the latest bios flashed? If not, use a stick of the PC5400 and load the latest bios. If you still cannot boot with the PC6400 after that, try these steps:

Clear CMOS and set bios to defaults using 1 PC5400 stick.

Set memory voltage to 2.1v and save settings.

Power off, remove all power, and remove 5400 stick, install 6400 stick.

Reboot and cross fingers.

OK - did that... same thing. It gets the the windows XP flag screen for about 2 seconds then reboots. Sometimes it shows a bunch of rotating colors after that - sometimes not.

I have already sent 1 set of this memory back to corsair - something must me wonky somewhere...

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.0 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test

It just dawned on me what MOBO you have. If you are trying to boot by SPD or boot at 800mhz manually, that chipset is probably not going to do it. When you set your bios up using a PC5400 DIMM, what RAM speed are you setting or, are you booting by SPD?
