karatekid
First, thanks for the tips within the forums on the A8N32-SLI being underclocked when setting to "Auto" - I set the timings and voltage properly (including CAS 2.5 for the AMD vs. CAS 3 default and CAS2 for Intel), and my system is performing night-and-day better. As for the RAM I have discovered that is bad: Per subject line, one each of two CMX pairs are confirmed bad now via memtest86... kinda the CMX1024 floods the screen in memtest with tons of red error notifications on the first two tests. Didn't think it necessary to let the whole battery of tests run :D the CMX512 won't even POST (will not let POST even get to bringing up the monitor), so I cannot run memtest. The other halves of these pairs run fine and pass memtest86 (plus i stole another stick from the wife, ehhehe!)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 23, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 23, 2007 I am sorry but with this MB and or platform you cannot mix memory, all of the modules would need to be exactly matched. And when you change modules you need to reset the Bios and load setup defaults and set the tested settings and Voltage.
karatekid
I don't have them mixed, I removed all RAM, inserted each module separately to test. Otherwise, I'd have not been able to isolate which of each individual pair (have a pair of 512's and a pair of 1024's) was bad. I don't typically run them together, I just tested all the RAM (and discovered the bad ones) I had around the house on the same day :D I will go back, however, and do all the BIOS resetting just to be sure. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 23, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 23, 2007 O.K. Yes I would encourage you to try that first to be sure, but if you do find you have a failing module, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
