Could one 1GB be replaced with 2 512MB on a RMA

Recommended Posts

I tried researching before I purchased, but I think I still screwed up.

I have a MSi K8T NEO-FSR 6707. I checked MSI about needing to purchase matched pairs, etc. Nothing was mentioned about only using matched pairs. I have one VS512MB400 installed. Because I did my research, I thought I could plug in a VS1GB400C3 beside it. For some reason it worked for about 14hrs and then crashed. After that it wouldn't boot with both installed. If I put in the 1GB by itself, it wouldn't post the BIOS at all. I update the MB BIOS to the latest version and it will now post and tries to boot. But it still will not load Windows properly. Because I can't use my old 512MB with this new stick, should I try returning it and get two more matching 512MB sticks? And I still haven't gotten this 1GB to work. Was hoping to have 1.5GB when done.:(:

I am sorry but we can only replace with the same part# that you send in, I would get the module replaced and buy another module to match it and then use 2 1.0 Gig modules for best performance.
