Defective TwinX1024-3200XL - RMA Request

hi

I have a custom made box :

  • ASUSTeK Computer INC. A8N-E (Latest Bios)
  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (No Overclock)
  • 2 Pairs of TWINX1024-3200XL (Total 2gig)

Latelly i have been experiencing random BSOD and data corruption problems.

I have managed to narrow down the defect to 1 of the Twinx pair by running tests with Memtest86/ Microsoft Memory test/ MemtestPro.

Each memory module was tested individually with different voltages (2.7, 2.75, 2.8, 2,85), with 2/2/2/5 timings and no overclock.

The errors reported with one of the pair are:

  • Memtest86 Test#5 errors (20 Errs for 75 Runs)
  • MemtestPro Errs : ie Error found copying between word pairs# 19395119 and 19395006

The 2nd Pair Passes all burn in tests which reveal a memory module defect rather a system failure

I would like to get an RMA to replace the defective Pair.

Regards

Hi RamGuy

Bios was defaulted prior to tests. Legacy USB was not disabled, only Vdim was changed.

Using this pair i realized memory pb when i started getting Rar corrupt volumes and BSODs.

Been testing for the past 3 days and the second pair does not generate any errors.

what tests do you suggest for further investigation?

Hi Ram Guy,

First thanks for you fast answers.

I agree to replace the all 4 modulesbut do you think we could replace 1 pair at a time so that i can keep the box running?

Do you have an idea on will be the replacement parts? Same LL chips? will there be loss in performance?

Regards
