tonetone
I've been either having memory issues or motherboard issues for the past few weeks and memtests have been really consistent and I'm really confused as to if this is a memory problem or motherboard problem. My computer has been running great for around 5 months and I just got problems with BSODs about a week and a half ago and I ran memtests and it showed tons of errors on test 7 and I switched one of the modules to a different slot and it ran fine for about a week and the blue screens showed up again. Heres a link to a more detailed description of whats been happening: http://evga.com/community/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=33622 My name is the same on that forum. Thanks in advance! This is what I've been experiencing TODAY: "ok this is just bizarre, I held off on RMAing for a couple of days because it seemed to be working ok for a couple of days but today I got a BSOD and memtested with RAM-A and RAM-B in slots 0 and 1 (respectively), errors showed up immediately so I took RAM-A out of slot 0 and just tested RAM-B on slot 1, and it ran fine with no errors. Then I put RAM-B Into slot 0 and it ran fine again with no errors. After that I removed RAM-B and proceeded to test out RAM-A, I put RAM-A into slot 0 and got errors on test #7, then I switched RAM-A and put it into slot 1 and found no errors again... which was bizarre because both when sticks were together, it had tons of errors the FIRST memtest after the BSOD. So then I put RAM-B into slot 0 AND RAM-A into slot 1 together and it ran again with no errors. Finally I decided to check if it would show up errors again with the same configuration as earlier after the BSODs showed, which was RAM-A in slot 0 and RAM-B in slot 1, and it showed with NO ERRORS after 2 tests. I really dont know whats wrong now, very weird that it ran with no errors with the SAME configuration as before but it ran with tons of errors before that." Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 14, 2007 Please load setup defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.0 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
tonetone
Thanks for the reply, my systems been working fine with no BSODs for a couple of weeks and getting BSODs again, this time i set the volts to 2.0v like you said and I was still getting errors with both sticks in, i took out one stick and tested it on all 4 slots and came back with no errors. I tested the other stick on slots 0, and 1 and it gave errors. then i put that same stick onto slots 2 and 3 and it gave me NO errors . Then I decided to put that same stick and retest it on slot 0 and 1, it gave errors on slot 0 again but NO errors on slot 1 (unlike the first time) then I put it back onto slots 2 and 3 for testing and it gave errors this time. It seems like that stick is giving me errors sometimes and other times seems to be fine, so I have no idea whats wrong. thanks in advance.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 30, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 30, 2007 That would suggest some other problem getting random errors like that, can you test the modules in another system?
tonetone
Im not quite sure at the moment about testing it on another system but Im running the system with the 1 ram that hasn't reported errors and its running fine. Ill try to find someone that has a system that can run the RAM.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 30, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 30, 2007 What happens if you install Both modules and then follow the steps I gave you before? Please load setup defaults and then set the Dim Voltage to 2.0 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! tonetone
It gave errors but not consistently.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 1, 2007 If you have a failing module they will fail consistently, I don't have a problem replacing your modules if you want to try that but what you have posted might suggest some other problem. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 27, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 27, 2007 NP if that does not solve the problem, I would suggest trying another better PSU.
