Vaio VGN-N270E/T Ram Advice

I have a VAIO laptop, n270e/t

According to corsairs website and the sony spec sheet, my laptop has 1GB of PC2-4200. It actually has 1GB of PC2-5300. The only other site that seems to know this is http://configurator.memorystock.com/result.asp?MsClsID=101&MsClsName=Laptops&ModelID=61757&ModelName=VAIO%20VGN-N270E/T yet everyone still says get PC4200, why?

I'm 1 button away from ordering this:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=20170&vpn=VS2GSDSKIT667D2&manufacture=CORSAIR, just want to make sure this will work with my system, I hear corsair ram is the best :)

I did that allready, your site says that PC2 4200 533 is only compatible. I used everest on my system so I know 667 is compatible (5300), so my question again is, is that ram compatible with my laptop. Im assuming yes but would rather get a confirmation before I order it.

Nope. Everest is reporting what the notebook's motherboard is capable of but if you've ever looked through your BIOS you'll notice there's very little adjustments/tweaking you can do. OEM manufacturers, especially with notebooks/laptops, have the BIOS written to lock in JEDEC spec values that are typically one speed step below whatever the max of the board is capable of. Since there are no adjustment possibilities in the BIOS, going with the faster module won't get you any more speed and it may not run at all. If you want to be covered under warantee, I'd go with what the Corsair memory configurator suggests.
