hx620 active case fan control?

So I have two case fans with 3 pin leads that are currently connected to the motherboard. What, if any, advantage would I gain from using the fan-only cable connector that came with my PSU?

Will that cable allow the 620 to control the case fan speed along with it's own internal fan? That would rule... otherwise, it seems silly to go from a 4pin PSU cable, to the fan only cable, to a 4 pin fan adapter, to the 3 pin fan cable when I could just go straight to the motherboard.

Any advice?

The advantage would be the MB's often times can only provide a limited amount of power usually .5 Amps to .75 Ams per fan header and if you are using a bigger fan it may not be able to get enough power.
