is300rulez
I am looking to build a new computer, so this is what I am thinking of going with... - ASUS P5N32-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz - CORSAIR Dominator 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - EVGA 768-P2-N831-AR GeForce 8800GTX 768MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 - O CZ GameXStream O CZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W Power Supply - Western Digital Caviar RE WD1600YS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive x2 (want to run in Raid 0) - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 - Thermaltake Matrix VX VD3000BNA Black Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - ZALMAN 9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Premium I want to make this a pretty serious gaming machine, but I have heard about many issues with this motherboard and stability. I dont expect for me to just plug all my parts into the board and it just run flawlessly (obviously I would want this though =) ) but I want to make sure I am not going to be fighting the mobo for weeks in order to get it stable. My main concern is the ram, I want to get the PC2 8500 because it is faster, but I am worried about compatability. Should I go for the PC2 6400 instead? I should also say I was thinking of overclocking the processor to something like 2.8 ghz since I am getting that zalman, think that will be ok? If anyone sees any conflicting issues, please let me know, I am ready to buy this week.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 1, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 1, 2007 I have not seen that may issues with this MB, it has ran well in the Lab and 1066 on the memory with a 1066 FSB CPU should be no problem.

Thanks for the info! So it recognizes and runs this ram right out of the box?
franz1313
just a couple quick notes... i am running the same mobo and proc and have had zero stability issues thus far. i have cranked the e6600 up to a stable 3.2 Ghz without raising the voltage, although i do have a coolermaster liquid cpu cooler. from what ive read about the zalman though you should be able to go to 2.8 without breaking a sweat. im running the slower xms2-6400(1GB) with zero stability issues. the mobo recognized the RAM and runs it at 800MHz automatically, but it does slightly alter the memory setting to 5-4-4-17 at 1.9V. ive been able to get the memory up to 875Mhz with no voltage mod, but running at the recommended settings of 5-5-5-15 at 1.9V. my next step will be the dominator pc-8500(2GB) because vista just hogs all my current ram. Since I bought the DDR2 1066, and the motherboard standard is DDR2 800, am I going to have to tweek the board to make it recognize that the ram is actually 1066 and run it at 1066mhz instead of recognizing it at 800 and running it at 800mhz? Hope that made sense...
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 4, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 4, 2007 Just set the CPU and Memory Ratio to 1:1.
is300rulez
RAM GUY: Do I have to set anything else in the bios? Such as the memory timing settings or voltage settings? When they are on auto, accoring to the voltage monitor, the ram is running at 1.9V. Isnt it suppose to be running at 2.2V?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 11, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 11, 2007 Just make sure you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the memory Voltage to 2.2 Volts and set SLI Ready Memory to CPU 0% should be all you need to do with one set of modules. is300rulez
RAM GUY: Thanks for all the help. For the SLI-Ready Memory, I should change it to CPUOC 0% rather than keep it disabled? Also do you think I need to change any of the other voltages? Such as Vcore Voltage for the E6600 (No Overclocking)? Right now it is set on auto (it seems to stay around 1.15-1.2v) should I just leave it on auto? Or is that not your field of expertise?
twiSted1
disable the SLI ready memory and set the timings and voltages manually if ur going to oc anything urself, ur oc will be more stable with it disabled. if u are going to leave stuff alone then enable it. As of now nothing is overclocked at all. I was just worried that with the settings on auto and my voltage for RAM reading 1.9v that something was wrong. Is it reading 1.9v a problem or should I overvolt it to 2.2v? Also I am not running SLI. So I guess I will keep it disabled rather than setting it to CPU 0%?
