TLM3180
RamGuy, I've been through this all before (2 yrs ago). Had some bad memory replaced by Corsair and it worked great. Now the same problem is happening again. The first time Corsair replaced two sticks of CMX512-3200XL, XMS 3208v1.1. It worked great so I bought another TWINX1024-3200XL so as to have 2g of memory. It is CMX512-3200XL, XMS 3208v1.2. I understand Corsair no longer makes this memory, right!? Well lately I've been having random reboots, visions of the past. My case number is #143049. I have also sent an email to tech support at Corsair with explanation. I used Memtest 86 v3.3 to test the sticks and found all four to be riddled with errors. The 3208v1.1 had a total of 245 errors and failed test #'s 3 and 4. The 3208v1.2 was horrible with 448 errors and failed test #'s 3,4,5,6,7 and 8. No need to test each stick separately as they are tested by Corsair as a pair and then sold that way, right!? So, I suspect this memory's life is short. The advertised latency on this RAM is 2-2-2-5, memtest shows 2.5-2-2-5. Either memtest is wrong or Corsair is wrong. Asus P4C800E-Dlx, PC Power&Cooling 510w, Intel P4 3.0G (no over clocking), ATI X800XL 256M, SoundBlaster Audigy EX. After installing the second set of sticks the computer ran ok for about two weeks then the tell-tell signs so I just took out the second pair, haven't used them for over a year. The machine runs ok with 1G but I paid for 2. Doesn't make any difference as they have "lifetime warranty" right!? Need to figure a way to replace these four bad sticks with two good one ok. RMA please. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 30, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 30, 2007 That would suggest some other problem, and yes you need to test them one at a time to make sure its not some other problem, please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. And if you are running 4 modules you may have to set the memory voltage to 2.85 Volts and I would set the timings to Cas 2.5-3-3-7 at DDR400. TLM3180
Ok, I will try these suggestions. In the meantime, Corsair has approved my RMA and will be contacting me with the number shortly!? But I will give your ideas a go. The Bios is the latest and the voltage is at 2.75v with only one pair of sticks. I will up it though if you think that will help. Legacy USB is turned off. Thanks RG. I'll be back.

TLM3180
Good news and bad...!? After exaustive testing with memtest 86v3.3 and using your suggestions, I have found one bad stick out of four. a 3208v1.1 CMX 512 3200XL stick showed many errors, here is a list of some test failures: Pass #1/test 4: 0000aedf434-0000bddf434-0000d2df434-000184df434-000118fff434. Pass #1/Test5: 0000acdf7b0-0000aedf5f0-0000aedf6f0-0000bcdf790-0000bedf5d0-0000bedf6d0 Pass#1/Test8: 0001bedf434-0000b4ff434-0001beff434-0001b3df434-0000b2df4334-0000bddf434 0001b0ff434-0001b2df434-0000a5df-00018eff434-00016bff434-0001bedf434-0000bddf434 0000aedf434-0001bedf434.....etc. Pass#2/Test 3: 0000aedfxxx-0000d2dfxxx-0001bedfxxx....etc. I quit the test after this pass as too many addresses to try and write down. So I suspect at least one of my sticks is bad. I tested each stick three times in each of the four memory slots on the MB. Using only one stick at a time is of course single channel in this MB. I did not test the "good sticks" in dual channel mode as I am using them now in application. So if one stick of a matched pair is bad, the pair is useless. If they are no longer available, what is the replacement and how will you handle that? TWINX1024-3200XL. Will another set of sticks work with the XL's I now have working. I've heard they must be identical to work together properly. Should I send all four sticks back for replacement to regain my two gigs of memory? Thanks RamGuy.
