Neo07
This is a fairy new setup, both sticks are running in dual channel mode. I've been running this system for less than a few weeks, on the very first startup after I got into Windows XP Pro (32-Bit) I was confronted with a BSOD. Then everything has been running fine up until yesterday when I received an error before logging on, the last time I had such an error was when I tried a new stick of Crucial RAM in my old system, which I RMA'ed for a refund. The error basically told me that svchost.exe has crashed and it had to be closed. After logging on more and more program crashed, all windows related so I restarted the computer. After that everything was fine. Also last night I left memtest86 running for 8 hours which did not report any errors after 12 or so tests if memory serves me right. However in the config when turning on "BIOS-all" I was confronted with 80,000 or so errors. My system also fails to boot into Windows XP on a cold boot and I have to select last known good setting to get up and running. In the mobo settings the memory is set to run by SPD and I have set the speed for it to run at 800MHz. The memory timings that EVEREST reports don't seem to meet the advertised timings. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 18, 2007 Please Change ‘Write to Precharge delay’ in the BIOS (same page as for latencies) from default 10 to 15 and then test the modules again with the Voltage set to 2.0 Volts and the tested settings set manually! Then test with http://www.memtest.org to be sure!

Then test with http://www.memtest.org to be sure! I have flashed the BIOS with the latest version and cannot see "Write to precharge delay" option. Also setting the voltage to 2.0volts my computer restarts after POST even when I try booting in safe mode. :'(
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 19, 2007 That setting should be bellow where you set the memory timings and did you load setup defaults and then make the changes to your Bios?
Neo07
That setting should be bellow where you set the memory timings and did you load setup defaults and then make the changes to your Bios? Hey I've set Write to Precharge delay to to 15, everything is set to default. When I change the the memory voltage to 2.0 volts my computer will not start and I have to remove the mobo battery to clear CMOS.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 20, 2007 That would suggest some other problem, are you sure that you are setting the memory voltage? Can you tell me the exact name of the setting and where it is? Also have you tried the modules one at a time?

Can you tell me the exact name of the setting and where it is? Also have you tried the modules one at a time? Hello and extremely sorry for the delay. After days of testing, the memory runs fine in dual channel mode but when I try them one by one, one of the sticks seems to have issues. Each time I start Windows XP the computer either crashes straight after logging in or when I run a program i.e. MSN Messenger. I'm now running the other stick in the same slot without any issues or crashes for 2 hours now. The first stick didn't last 5 minutes. What is weird is I ran memtest86 for 5+ hours on the stick that crashes Windows XP and memtest reported no errors. I haven't overclocked anything in BIOS just changed my IDE settings thats all. All memory settings are now set to auto even the voltage and the memory is running off SPD. I also have the latest BIOS from ASUS flashed. In response to your question, below in the 'Memory Voltage' is where I tried changing the voltage to 2.1v. Its currently set to auto and everest shows me the voltage of the good stick that is currently being used now is 1.8v and the timing is 5-5-5-18 not the advertised 5-5-5-12. :[pouts: http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2567&stc=1&d=1177699463

Maximum DDR2 recommended VDIMM: 2.1 Volts Yes I've already tried these settings, doesnt help when they're not even for my motherboard P5B-Deluxe. The settings I can configure, my mobo doesnt even show some of the timings e.g the FSB Termination Voltage on my mobo only goes upto 1.45v and there is no setting for command rate. I set the voltage on the single stick of RAM that worked ok to 2.1 and changed write to precharge delay to 15 but the timings reported by both cpu-z and everest were again 5-5-5-18. Then after changing the other recommended settings my computer turns on but the monitor stays on standby. I have to then reset CMOS to get everything working. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 27, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 27, 2007 The settings are for reference and the MB we use to validate the modules is of little consequence just use the settings provided as reference. In your case they will look something like this: AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual CPU External Frequency: Manually set to 266MHz DDR2 SDRAM Clock: Manually set to 800MHz PCI Express Freq: Auto PCI Freq: 33.33 Performance Mode: Standard DRAM Timing Selectable: Manual SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T SDRAM Write Recovery Time: 5 Write to Precharge Delay: 15 (If it's Listed) Command Rate: 2T DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 2.1 All other settings are motherboard defaults. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 27, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 27, 2007 Here is more translation, DRAM Cas Latency: 4 DRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T DRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T ( Listed on your MB as Ras Precharge) DRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T DRAM Write Recovery Time: 5 Write to Precharge Delay: 15 DDR2 SDRAM Voltage: 2.1 All other settings are motherboard defaults. Maximum DDR2 recommended VDIMM: 2.1 Volts Command Rate is a setting that is currently only used with AMD or Non Intel chipsets and will not be listed in an Intel chipset. And before you set the settings you need to load setup defaults and then set the settings and Voltage. You can get more help with your Bios settings if your manual is not clear from http://www.rojakpot.com
