wshearer
I have 4 identical sticks of RAM and one of them has gone bad. I cannot boot my computer when it is in any of the slots. I have moved them around with the same results of not booting. When I remove that stick, the computer boots fine. I have the following equipment. Are there any tests other than what I have outlined that I can try to test the stick of RAM? ASUS Crosshair MB AMD 2x 64bit cpu
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 13, 2007 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
wshearer
I do have the latest BIOS from ASUS. When I perform this test, will the computer be able to isolate the module that is bad, so the computer can boot with the memory in the slot? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 14, 2007 No you need to test "them one at a time"
wshearer
If I put the stick of RAM in that is at issue, the computer will not clear post and I will not be able to boot up with the memory tester to test the RAM.
