Sagan
I have a failed set of corsair memory I need to RMA. This RAM just doesn't work on my i680 board, and failed on other boards after running in the i680. I have tried 4 different MB (3 EVGA, 1 ASUS), 2 different Power supplies (Antec 600W, Tagan 1100W), and this is the 5th set to fail with above, the last 4 where exchanged at PC Club where I bought them. This was never overclocked, always run at stock 1.85 or 1.9 Volts, so the post at EVGA about running at 2.4V causing them to fail is not really true, this RAM just does not work. I have bought new 667MHz RAM already that is working, so I need to just exchange this so I can sell it off. The RMA form says I need a Post ID, so I'm posting here first. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 13, 2007 If 5 sets of RAM have failed in your system, it is most likely not a RAM issue. Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Sagan
This particular RAM seem to fry on the i680 boards, it gets almost too hot to touch. The RAM was tested on a 945 chipset board for 5 full Memtest passes (about 3.5 hours worth of tests), and works fine. Moved to an EVGA i680 board and it fails within 10 mins. This is all stock settings, 800MHz and 1.9 volts, everything on Auto. This procedure was repeated with 5 sets of RAM, 4 different motherboards (3 of the EVGA boards, and 1 Asus i680 board), and with 2 different Power Supplies (1 Antec 600W and 1 Tagan 1100W), all using the same E6600 CPU at Stock speeds. 2 of the times, after running for a few hours on the i680, the RAM then fails on the original 945 board when we put it back in to test. I have since bought other 667MHz RAM that is working fine on the EVGA board.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 16, 2007 I would suspect a power problem on one of the MB and/or a power supply may be causing that problem.
Sagan
That was why I tried TWO power supplies. Seriously, there are dozens of threads on this same issue at EVGA. I can't return this RAM since I applied for a rebate, I just want it RMA'd so I can sell it off, can I get this RMA approved please?

Sagan
Done, thanks much! Sucks this RAM doesn't work on that board tho, lifetime warranties (and companies that stick behind them) rule! :p
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 16, 2007 NP have you talked to the MB maker and asked if there is any updates?
Sagan
Ya, they only say they have issues when running at 2.4V, and it's supposed to work fine at stock voltage, but that is not what I'm seeing. EVGA is supposedly in touch with you guys about this issue already actually... This is all they are saying: http://www.evga.com/articles/350.asp, and here if the 5 page thread of others with issues: http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31115
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 16, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 16, 2007 Well the modules you have should run at 1.9 Volts and that would not be the case here because that was when running the memory Voltage at 2.4 Volts according to their own words; Correct? Sagan
That is what they are saying yes, that they only see failures running the RAM at 2.4 volts. I see the same failures runnin the ram at stock 1.9 volts (and it's still almost too hot to touch). Others in the forum are seeing problems running at various voltages... I'm not sure where the fault lies, but in all the combinations I tested, the Corsair 800MHz RAM didn't want to work in the i680 board, where it did work on Intel chipset boards (at 800Mhz). 667MHz RAM is fine, and one thing I did not test tho, was this RAM running at 667MHz. I would love to test it more, but 2 weeks of testing and not having a working a system was enough for me, I just needed it to work again. :p
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 17, 2007 I do understand and I feel your pain. But please let me know if there are any updates. And when you get the new modules.
