Bullit
I've been trying to get these modules to operate with stability since I purchesed them a couple months ago. Unfortunately I waited too long to return them. I've have tried everyting mentioned on this forum to get them to work and to no avail the remain unstable. The system is stable with any two modules but never 4. I tried all the settings I could find here. I find it ridiculous to try 667 Mhz since I bought these to operate at 800 Mhz. I did try it though and my system will not post even with one module at 667 Mhz. I think from everything I've read here that these modules just don't work well with this MB. I have another machine that has 6400 Kingston modules that I tested in this MB and they they work fine in this MB. I'd like to trade these modules in for some PC2 8500 modules that may work reliably on this MB. I don't want to go back and forth testing an incompatabilty issue. There are many entries on this forum that seem to indicate you have a problem with these modules and this MB. Can you help? Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 9, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 9, 2007 With 4 modules you may have to run them at DDR667 this is not the memory its a memory controller limitation, but did you test the modules one set a time to make sure one is not failing? And if so what are the settings you are trying to run them at?
Bullit
As stated earlier even one module at 667 doesn't work for me and requires me to reset cmos to get the system to post again. Also I did not buy these modules to run at 667 they are specified to 800Mhz. The Asus guys say there is no reason they should need to run at 667Mhz. The striker extreme is specified to operate to 1200Mhz, Asus says with 4 sticks. I have tried 5-5-5-15 2T, 5-5-5-18 2T, 4-4-4-12 2T, I have tried memory voltage at all these at 2.0, 2.05, 2.1,2.15, I've tried TRC 24, and TRFC at 42 at all these settings, I've tried all these at 667Mhz and 800Mhz (both unlinked) All to various levels of stability and I can't get more then 2 sticks to operate with stability. I have tried a set of Kingston sticks and they seem to operate overnight without any problem which leaves me to believe the problem is the memory. I wish I could simply return them to where I bought them but I waited too long to do so. So now I'm stuck with modules that don't work with this board. Please allow me to trade up to 4 modules that should work with this board at 800Mhz. Please issue me an RMA to do so.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 12, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 12, 2007 You would have to talk to the reseller and a refund if that is what you are asking, but I have no problem replacing them if you like. Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them or it.
Bullit
It's beyond my 30 days so the reseller won't refund them. I'd like you to swap them for a set of 4 PC2 8500's that may actually work with this board at 800Mhz with 4 modules. From all the trouble I've read about on this forum and others I have doubts that just getting exact replacements for the 6400's will solve my problem. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 13, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 13, 2007 XM2S-6400C3DF is a faster module then XM2S-8500C5D and you have a better chance of getting 6300C3DF running at 800 MHz at Cas 4-4-4-12 at 2.4 Volts then you would 4 8500C5D modules.
