1 of 4 modules bad!

Recommended Posts

hi there!

I have got 4 modules of 5400ul memory

since a while back ive noticed som errors and suspected the memories..

i tested them with memtest 1.7 and only one of the modules had flaws..

tested them 1 by 1

what do i need to do to get them(one pair) replaced as i need the memory asap..

well bios was reset when i tested

the memtest number? like 30something if you mean what sector or so? didnt write it down...

and since 3 of 4 sticks worked it would be silly to blame it on the config.. or?

the serial number of the bad stick is 0000023058

Well I would agree to some extent, but with out knowing the errors you had if there was a setting problem and the errors were in a higher test like 5-8 that would suggest its not the module. If you just want to do the RMA and take that chance I don't have a problem with it.

Please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

i first mede sure the settings where as specified for the module, test run the 3 good parts toghether with no sign of errors..

then i tested them all togheter and got errors, test 3

then i tested the one that i suspect is faulty,

and got these errors:

fail test 1 over 100 err

fail test 5 1 err

fail test 5 1 err

fail test 5 1 err

fail test 6 over 100 err

bad ram= 00000558760,0xfffffffc

no furteher errors up to tets 7, after that i esc.

since im at the moment using 4 of these sticks,

im wondering if i rma, will i get a 5400ul or some other ul stick?

and should i send 1 stick or the pair? or even both pairs?

since id like to ether keep the current ddr speed and latency or sacrifice some latency for a much higher ddr speed as it seems thats where the market is going..

Did you have the memory Voltage set to 2.0 Volts and did you Disable Legcy USB when ran http://www.memtest.org? And If you submit the RMA I would get them all replaced as these may not be available any more.
