XMS1024-3200C2PT and Asus A8V-VM

Weird,

I have four identical DIMM's, all XMS1024-3200C2PT. When I plug in any two, they are correctly detected as 2048 MB @ 400MHz. When a third DIMM is installed, the motherboard correctly detects 3072 MB, but only at 333 MHz. When a fourth is installed, the board only detects 3328 MB usable of 4096 MB installed, also at 333MHz.

Under BIOS MTRR is set to continuous, and I have manually set the memory to 200 MHz with timings of 2.5-3-3-6-2T, but on the memory set-up page it is still listed at 166 MHz!

These chips are not specifically listed on the main Corsair site as being compatible, though the TWINX2048-3200C2PT are . . . is it that these modules are not specifically tested for dual channel operation? Is there a work-around?

Updating the BIOS to the latest revision (0502) did not help.

Any help appreciated,

David

That is normal and you would need to talk to ASUS about the bios settings not working, but depending on the CPU core you have DDR333 may be suggested and I would set the timings to Cas 2.5-3-3-7 at 2.8 Volts as well.
