Poor Performance with Flash Voyager 1.0GB USB 2.0 Drive

Recommended Posts

I'm running Windows XP (Service Pack 2) with an Athalon 3400+ processor, and 2GB RAM. I recently rewrote all 235MB of data to my old Lexar 256MB JumpDrive and timed it at 16 mins 32 secs. Writing the same files from my hard drive to my new Flash Voyager 1.0GB flash drive took over 52 minutes.

I used the same access point on my USB hub, and copied the files from the same folder on windows. I didn't have other applications running during either transfer, and my CPU utilization was below 5% the entire time.

I looked over the forums here, but couldn't find any information regarding this problem other than a reference to the Microsoft website saying that USB 2.0 performance issues were addressed in Service Pack 1.

Any ideas?
