Dominator max memory clock

I have a P5n32SLI-SE Asus mb with Corsair Dominator 800mhz DDR2 1024x2. Processor is a 960 P4D 3.6ghz. Problem is, I can get the processor up to 4.2ghz but the memory will not clock up past the FSB. Can you not set the memory speed to a certian level independant of the FSB? I have the bios set to not link the FSB with the memory clock. Even if I manually change the memory to say 1066 and the FSB of the CPU to 940, the system will boot it to the FSB speed and ignore the set speed in the bios. I figured the internal memory could run different the FSB but maybe I am wrong.
