RAM failing MEMTEST86

Hi,

I have some Corsair 2GB XMS TwinX DDR2 6400C4 RAM. When I run it under stock conditions on my DS4 it fails in Memtest86, Test2. Occaisonally memtest will lock up. I have tried running with 5-5-5-18 timings as well as 4-4-4-12.

Neither work.

I will try one stick at a time to see if this makes any difference.

One stick fails on Test 3, other one is still running without failures (about 30 minutes so far). Both sticks were put in DDR2 slot 1. Forgot to mention before that I am running the latest F8 BIOS for the motherboard.

Will try at 4-4-4-12 timings with the working stick to see if it still passes.

If there are any other tests you think I should run then please let me know.

Thanks,

Russell

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.3 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Hi,

I have done the test. One stick fails on either test 2 or 3 with many errors. The other passes.

I have a couple more questions on BIOS settings though -

1) There is a setting called Refresh to ACT Delay, this has no AUTO setting and needs to be set to value from 0 - 511. The 5-5-5-18 timings used a value of 30.

2) There is another setting called High Speed DRAM DLL Settings, which can be set to Option 1 or Option 2.

I can try the 2 different combinations for 2), but I am unsure as to what 1) should be.

Thanks,

Russell
