Mixing TwinX and CMX ??

Recommended Posts

I have had a pair of TWINX1024-3200C2PRO modules for a couple of years now. Love them to bits.

After the initial problems of having to set timings manually, they have been great in 3 motherboards now.

I have been looking to buy another pair of these, to up my system to 2Gb, and thought I had found some, but when the delivery arrived, it turns out to be 1 single CMX1024-3200C2PRO.

My question is: Can I put this 1024 module into my motherboard (MSI K8N Neo4-F) with the 2x 512's I already have? Or will this cause problems?

Do I need to find 2 more 512's (which no1 seems to sell anymore) or will I have to fork out even more money and get another 1024 to match the one I have and get rid of my 512's???

Thanks in advance for your help.

Your best bet would to seel the 2x 512s and get a 1 gig stick. You will lose dual channel mode on this board and also the ability to use 1T operational speed. You will have a much faster system by going to 2x 1gb rather than just installing the 2x512s and the 1 gig stick.
