PolishPower
Right now I'm running on 1.5gb of PC 2700 and I'm looking to upgrade to the PC 4400 2gb kit, since its probably the best DDR1 kit out there right now. I am not exactly sure of what motherboard I have but Im running on a model PCV-RS511P sony vaio machine with a 2.8ghz pentium 4 processor. I'm a newbie with this stuff all I know is that the most I can upgrade to is to 2gb on this system, would my desktop be compatible with this memory kit/and would my processor handle the speed of the memory? Also are there any advantages/disadvantages to getting a 2x1gb kit vs 4x512mb or vice versa? Also how would I go about overclocking and would it be worth it? Thanks for any anwsers. Legend
You will not be able to overclock on this system.
PolishPower
I guessed overclocking would be out of the question, but I am still looking to upgrade my memory setup to the fastest possible extreme gaming kit for a DDR1-slot motherboard. I know my machine came equipped with PC-2700 DDR333 modules, but would I be restricted to using those speeds only? And if not what is the highest possible ram speed my system will be compatible with? Thanks for any help
Legend
333MHZ would be max, you will not be able to change any timings are frequencies on OEM Systems. even if you install 400MHZ it willstill run at 333MHZ.
PolishPower
thanks for the help, figured that most of the issues with overclocking, etc. were concering computers that were self-built
