DanLand
I just purchased the CMFUSB2.0-4GB I am having problems accessing it. My PC recognizes it, it shows up in the system under hard drives but it doesn't show up in My Computer at all where I can access the flash drive. I took it to work and I didn't have any problems. Both computers are running XP.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 19, 2007 I would try and open Disk manager and see if its listed and try to assign a drive letter to it!
DanLand
I am unfamiliar with disk manager, where can I find it?
DanLand
I found the drive management tool and I am able to assign a drive letter. It still will not show up in My Computer though. It also does not save the drive letter assignment. Is it possible that my PC has older USB? I think this PC is approx 2+ years old. My PC at work is less than 1 year old. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 22, 2007 Are you sure there is no other device trying to use the drive letter you assigned? And once you assign a drive letter do you see it listed under disk drives in Device Manager?
DanLand
there are no other devidces use the drive letter. I tried several different ones. Once I assign the drive letter it does show up in the drive management. it shows up as a drive in the device manager even before setting a drive letter. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 23, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 23, 2007 Can you try this in another system? And if you still have the same problem, let's try replacing the drive, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them or it. DanLand
I mentioned in my first post that I tried it at work and didnt have any problems. I am wondering if its a USB version compatibility problem as my home pc is 2+ years old and my work pc is less than one year.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 23, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 23, 2007 Or there might be a problem with the USB or USB driver its using. Is that system up date with the latest Bios and drivers?
DanLand
the system is kept up to date via Microsoft's website.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24, 2007 Well there may be a newer driver for the USB controller the MB is using, I would check for the specific controller with the MB maker and see if there is a newer driver. Garvin
If there isn't an independent USB driver listedfor the specific board you own, look for the latest chipsett drivers for that board; sometimes the latest USB drivers are in with the chipsett driver package. Install the latest chipset drivers and the USB drivers are updated a well. Good luck.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 24, 2007 And for some chipsets you have to go to that respective Chipset maker’s web site to get the latest drivers like with VIA Microsoft does not include driver support for them, why I don’t know! Ask Microsoft, but I am sure they give you some explanation that makes no sense.
DanLand
well, I updated the chipset drivers and the flashbios drivers VIA the PC manufacturers website Dell. It still does not work. I even bought a 2.0 USB PCI card and still no luck. Any other ideas?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 20, 2007 Did the system come with this O.S;. or did you install it? If it came that way I would check with the system maker to be sure.
DanLand
the system came custom built from Dell with XP Pro. I have been in contact with them also and there are also trying to figure out the problem. Are there any drivers for the Flash Voyager that i can try installing? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 21, 2007 Not for XP they are included in XP and 2000. We can try and change the FV if you like, but it sounds like a problem with that system, because I think you stated the FV works in another system right? DanLand
yes, it works perfectly fine on another system.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 21, 2007 I would try and work with Dell and see what they have to say, but it would suggest a problem with the system. And remember we will be happy to replace the FV for you if you like!
