SuGGs
I received my Ram and MoBo 3 Days ago. Set the Ram timings according to the setup refered to in RamGuys sig Memory Voltage at 2.1 FSB: 400 Ram Set to DDR2-800 so they are clocked within the specs running 1:1 Bios:0711, 0804, 0911Beta Whenever i start a Orthos blend Test i will get an error within the first minutes. When i stick in only one of the modules the Blend test errors out within the first 20 seconds with one of the modules but runs 10h+ if i put in only the other one. The Strange thing is that memtest86+ shows no errors on the first 3 passes. Didn´t try to let it run any longer. Goldmemory has found 26 Errors after the first pass. Due to the fact that i live in Germany i will RMA it to my vendor as soon as you have no idea and also confirm that one of the sticks might be defect. Thanks in advance
SuGGs
well.... I´m one step further: after reading http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56574 i tried to lower the Vdimm also to 1.85 V and.... ... was able to complete Goldmemory with the probably defect and also with both sticks in at 4-4-4-12. Orthos is running for 1h+ now... we will see
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 19, 2007 You CPU FSB should be set to 266 Mhz. Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
SuGGs
I have made the same experience on CPU stock speed of 266. As i mentioned memtest does not find any errors at all. Goldmemory seems to be much more sensitive. At 1,85V the probably defect stick passes goldmem and ran over an hour of Prime Blend test until i got an error. The other module works in all settings. Maybe the P5B is overvolting the ram ? BTW: The often refered timings in your sig for the 6400C4 might be ok but the voltage there are misleading and can be considered suicide on a board with another chipset as the pretested ones. The Voltages are for a P5WD2 with a 975X chipset. If an unexperienced user with a 965 chipset based mobo who does not understand that you are only pointing to the timings not the voltages uses voltages that high for a longer time he might kill his system. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 19, 2007 The memory Voltage is 1.9 Volts minimum and Gold memory is not an approved program with us sorry especially if its running in any version of Dos and you have more then 512 Meg of memory. Our DDR2 modules are rated up to 2.1 Volts unless other wise specified. If you system is generating errors when the voltage is set to the suggested setting I would suggest changing your PSU as that might suggest a power problem. SuGGs
Borrowed myself an Ocz ModStream 520W and exchanged my Enermax 485W PSU. With 2.1V I have still no errors in Memtest, but still the same errors in goldmemory starting at test 148 and Orthos/Prime erroring out in Blend test
