Corsair memory in Abit IL-90MV Board

I am using Corsair ValueRAM 2x 1Gb PC2 5300 667Mhz 5-5-5-15 1.8V VS2GBKIT667D2 in this board and having problems. First let me say that MemTest86 shows the RAM is perfect over the 7 iterations I ran. This RAM is also listed as compatible in the Corsair memory configurator. And I contacted Corsair support who just told me it's fine.

 

The problems I am having (which others are having on Abit forums here) is that S3 standby resume fails or works only occasionally. In my case I have had to set this RAM to 533Mhz (the MB and RAM support 667) and set it's voltage to 1.9V and the northbridge voltage to 2.2v.

 

I am concerned about the higher voltages which the RAM doesn't require to pass MemTest86 and I am concerned that I have to drop the speed of the RAM to get S3 standby to work.

 

I am planning to upgrade my RAM to a higher performing Corsair module TWIN2X2048-6400C4 which is recommended by the memory configurator. I would like to know what voltage range of northbridge and DRAM this module supports? NewEgg.COM just says 2.1V and the Corsair site doesn't show any voltage. I'm looking for RAM that's highly configurable to try to get this motherboard stable.

That would suggest that this may be Bios or a MB issue and I would talk to the MB maker and see if they are aware of the problem and may have a fix. But if you have this issue with 667 Memory I would suspect it will happen with 80 MHz memory assuming your MB supports that speed natively not over clocked. But to be sure I would test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org for 6-8 passes each and you should not get any errors.

In addition, you can set the memory voltage to 2.1 Volts with out problems which I would suggest trying as well.

This sounds like a BIOS/Mainboard issue. Are you overclocking? Have you entered the BIOS and manually set your Power Saving state to S3?
