Mark6437
I have my RAM TWIN2X1024-6400C4 (4 sticks for 2 gigs) set at 4-4-4-12 2T 800mhz. On the 680i there are additional settings of: tRRD Auto3____3 tRC Auto21____21 tWR Auto5____ 5 tWTR Auto8___ 7 tREF Auto_____7.8uS This is what is set in the BIOS now by default. Are these settings right for my RAM? I checked in this forum and on corsair site but could not find any mention of these settings for this RAM. Thx Mark
DerekT
Have you tested with Memtest? From http://www.memtest.org Those additional settings are to deal with an instable system. First find if your system is instable. If not, then these settings do not need additional setting.
Mark6437
Yes I have tested with MemTest. All sticks pass fine. My question though is are thesee settings right for these sticks? That is all I wanna know. Certainly these sticks have these settings and I am just wondering if they are right............................... DerekT
Personally, my belief is that these settings are best left at Auto. They are for helping to create a stable DRAM in your system rather than from an stable system. If your system is stable, then I fail to see what your worry is though. DRAM is rather dynamic. One set of 6400C4's on one board might well have different Auto timings for these settings. tRRD = 4 tRC = 22 tWR = 11 tWTR = 4 tREF = 7.8uS These are my "Auto" settings. They could well cause your system issues.
Mark6437
I have had about 8 BSOD's with this board so far, others are having the same problem. See the EVGA forums. I am trying to diagnose the problem. I can play games great, I seem to only get the BSOD's in windows doing regular things like checking email. I just wanted to see if these settings for my RAM were right. I am sure someone at Corsair knows what these values should be. Probably they are right set on auto but I am trouble shooting and I just wanted to check. Thx Mark
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2007 You can get help at http://www.rojakpot.com with un-published bios settings but any setting not listed should be set to Auto or Bios default. rainwood
Sorry to hear that you have the instability problems with the EVGA 680i mainboard. Yes, I had the same problem. Here’s my advice to stabilize your system. 1. Update the BIOS to P23: if you have not done so already. 2. (This does not apply to you, though) Use the slot #0 & #1 if you use the two sticks of RAM. Use the slot #0 if you use one stick of RAM: using the slot #2 & #3 for the two sticks of RAM on this mainboard does cause the memory error. 3. Try enabling the SLI-ready memory if you memory is the SLI-ready memory && let the BIOS set the timings and voltage: how to do, please refer to my post in the thread: "nTune is happy with the Corsair’s tested voltage for TWIN2X2048-8500C5D (EVGA 680i)” 3. Disable the LinkBoost in the BIOS; try disabling the NVIDIA GPY Ex, too. 4. Check if you have the latest version of the graphic card driver installed on your system: if not, install the latest graphic card driver. 5. Rebuild your system: if none of the above works out for you, this is the last thing you can try before the RMA. Unless you absolutely need to use the NVIDIA network access manager (NAM), do not install the NAM during the chipset driver installation. 6. Do RMA and get the replacement mainboard: I got the mainboard with the P23 final pre-installed in the last week when I had RMA processed. So I think that the mainboard in the market has the P23 BIOS pre-installed, but makes sure that you get the mainboard with the P23 BIOS when you get RMA processed. Good luck! [uPDATE] I did not know that the P24 BIOS has been released… It would be worth trying the new BIOS.

sf4692
Do you have a link to your motherboard? I can not find it on the MSI website. Do you mean the MSI P6N-Platinum with the 650i chipset? no sorry, atm there is nothing on their webpage (the only link i can send you is from an austrian price-comparing-site http://geizhals.at/a234279.html - there are 3 differnet version of this board (http://geizhals.at/?fs=p6n&x=0&y=0&in=) the p6N diamond version with 680i sli, the P6n sli with 680i sli, and the p6n platinum with 650i Sli the mainboard is called MSI P6N, nForce 680i SLI (dual PC2-6400U DDR2) (MS-7355-010) (it must "the little brother" of the diamond version) it is completely the same as the original nvidia 680i sli reference board (as produced from evga,....) i hope this helps you!!
