RMA Request - Faulty CMX512-3200C2

Recommended Posts

Hello,

About three weeks ago I added one stick of CMX512-3200C2 to my system to bump the RAM up from 1.0GB to 1.5GB. The other RAM in the system was also CMX512-3200C2, two of them. Everything ran fine for three weeks and I noticed the proper speed increase from adding the extra 512.

After the three weeks, however, my system locked up in mid-use (just using the internet at the time). After that the PC would usually freeze while loading windows. Although sometimes I could get into windows, it would only last about 3 minutes before a BSOD and restart. I also tried booting a Linux LiveCD too, with similar results. After isolating each stick of RAM and trying different slots, I found that it was this new one that was bad.

Given this, I'm quite certain this RAM is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
