CyahLaytar
I know it isn't a good idea to run differing memory modules to be able to run memory in dual channel, but I can no longer find the memory I'm currently using (TWINX1024-3200LL). I'm running a Asus P4P800 and I'm looking at getting TWINX1024-3200C2PT to bump me up to 2 gig of Ram. Anyone know if it is possible to run these 4 modules in dual channel? Or should will there be loss of performance (noticeable) in running these in single channel? Or should I scrap my old modules and just spring for the TWINX2048-3200C2PT? I'm reluctant to just scrap the old modules as the price hit for the 2 gig set is twice the cost of the 1 gig set. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. Yellowbeard
Unfortunately, there is no way to tell on mixing and matching memory except to test it together. Your safest course by far is to buy the 2 x 1gb kit and find another use for the PC3200LL. Depending on the ICs, your PC3200LL could have a very good resale value if you can bring yourself to part with them. Have a look in the Enthusiast section, IC Inquiry thread for ICs used.
