onesquin
Before I submit an RMA, I want to make sure that the device is bad. For any computer I try and plug the drive in, it asks to be formatted. Whenever I try and format it says it is read-only. Is there anything I can do to fix this or is it dead? What can cause this? Thanks- Scott
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 12, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 12, 2007 Please try to format the drive from a command Prompt in Windows using this syntax: Format (X:) /FS:FAT32 /U (X=the drive letter assigned to the Flash Voyager) And its hard to say the cause with out seeing the drive, but a failing controller or memory chip can cause this as well as Windows can loose the file allocation table if the drive is being wrote to or read from when it's removed. If you still have problems, let’s get it replaced. Please use the RMA request found in TSXpress or follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! onesquin
The command line did not work either. I submitted an RMA. C:\>format f: /fs:fat32 /u Insert new disk for drive F: and press ENTER when ready... The type of the file system is RAW. The new file system is FAT32. Verifying 992M Cannot format. This volume is write protected.
