Jimk33
I just installed a new Asus A8N-E mother board, and cannot get it to boot if there is memory in slot 1 and any other slot. In fact, the boot up splash screen doesn't even appear so I can't change bios settings. I have two sets of Twinx1024-3200CPT (4 sticks of 512) that I sucessfully used in an ASUS A8n-SLI Premium for about a year, so I think the memory is okay. What is strange is that my system will boot fine with memory in slots 2, 3, and 4, but will not boot with memory in slot one and any of the other slots. I read on NewEgg's user reviews of various memory brands that other users have had problems using more than one stick, so I'm not sure whether there is a problem with the new motherboard, with the old memory, or if it is just a compatibility problem. Corsair's memory configator says this memory should work on this board. I don't want to RMA the board if the problem will appear in a new board as well. My current bios is 1010, the one that came with the motherboard, and I am running standard memory settings. Any thoughts on how to resolve this problem would be appreciated. Thanks. DerekT
Using slots 2 and 4 will give you dual channel mode. Update to the newest BIOS if yours is not. Test with a plain value edition stick of ram in the offending slot. Does it inintialize and pass Memtes? If not, I would personally RMA the board.
