New RAM causing problems.

Hello there,

I currently have an Abit AV8 motherboard with an Athlon 64 3200+ CPU and 2x 512mb Corsair value rams (DDR400). Just yesterday I decided that I wanted to add more RAM to my system and went and bought another 1Gig, DDR400 as well but it's a single piece 1Gig ram.

So after placing the single piece 1Gig Corsair RAM into my 3rd slot (first 2 slots taken up by the 2x 512s) and turning my PC on, it just wouldn't boot at all. The LED on my monitor kept blinking showing it is still on standby and my PC kept beeping every 2 seconds.

I removed the new single piece 1Gig RAM, it worked. I removed my 2x 512mbs and placed the new 1Gig onto the first slot, it worked. I added a single 512mb into the 2nd slot with the new 1Gig in the first slot, it didn't work. This is really confusing and pretty damn weird.

Anyone experienced this before? Any help would be appreciated.

Install the single stick of dram and enter your bios. Set your ram to 333MHz and your timings to 3 - 3 - 3 - 8 with your Vdimm to 2.7v.

Shut the system down.

Make sure the dimms are installed with the 1024 (1GB) in the first dimm slot closest to the CPU. Slot 1. Then one 512 in slot 2. Leave Slot 3 empty. Install the other 512 in slot 4.

Restart. Does your system boot? If so run memtest http://www.memtest.org and test for your ram stability.
