LA Fred
My daughter's PC uses DDR SDRAM 2100. The Specs I can see are that it has a Celeron 2.4 GHz Processor with a Front Side Bus of 400MHz. Newegg has a deal going on now for Corsair VS DDR SDRAM 3200. Would it be backwards compatible with her PC? Thanks.
DerekT
You should have no problem with this transition. I have installed and upgraded DDR400 on this exact same system. The DDR400 will default to the DDR266 speeds.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 5, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 5, 2007 OEM systems many times will not read a faster modules SPD and work properly, I would suggest you look up your system on our memory configurator and get a modules thats suggested for your system. LA Fred
Well, you know the old song, "Fools rush in." I've already ordered them. I'll let you know what happens. It'll be a while, though, because I ordered them for my daughter's PC and we are not due to go back for a couple more months. There is another question, though, for DerekT: What processor are you running? Hers is a Celeron 2.4 GHz. LA Fred
DerekT
The machine I installed the DDR400 into was a 2.7GHz Celeron. It took the RAM but RamGuy is right. One never knows for certain. I have made an error telling you that you should have no problem as you might. The memory configurator states only DDR266 for compatibility. I believe you will have no issues although you might not be able to mix and match. You did order 512MB Sticks? If you want to be certain, you might be better off to cancel the order and look for DRAM that will fit with the configurator. Sorry
LA Fred
I was looking through the forum on another matter, and I remembered this thread. I had already ordered the memory by the time I was advised not to do it. The memeory came and I set it aside, waiting for the next time I visited my daughter. I finally got down there about a month ago, installed the memory, and the machine took off like a scrared rabbit! I guess I lucked out - for once in my life. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 14, 2007 That is great news; it will vary with the make of the system, Compaq and HP seem to have better BIOS support for this then other OEM's. But you should be fine.
