razor82
Hi, I have a Corsair VS1GBKIT400 double ranked in my computer (details in my profile) and it works fine. I bought the same kit, because I thought they are compatible, but the new one is single ranked. I can't get them all to work, but the single kits work fine. Can anybody help me???? DerekT
4GB in that board will be problematic. Install either kit. Enter the BIOS. Set your DRAM to DDR333 and 2T and Vdimm to 2.7v. Shut the system down and install the second set. Double Ranked in Dimm 1 & 3, Single Ranked in Dimm 2 & 4. Does this work?
razor82
That's great! Thank you very much. :): But why works a DDR400 RAM only on 333?
DerekT
When you use 4 Dimm Slots, you lose the BIOS's optimizations that are created for 2 X Slots. So normally you have to drop the DRAM speeds and sometimes timings as well. This is a well known characteristic. There are, however, a few people who have not had to do this and are able to keep their dram at the higher speed. I personally have never seen this happen on any of the 4GB machines that have been on my testing bench. Regards, Derek
