Fazer69
Just bought a stck of corsair value select 1gb ddr2 667 PC2-5400, to go in my PB5 motherboard (link below), replacing the Nanya 512's (link below), would this just be a straight swap, or would I need to change any settings in the bios, if so what ones and to what? RAM is a bit of a dark area to me, so any help you can give would be gratefully appreciate. http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/4192/untitlednc5.jpg http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/7273/pic3yy2.jpg
DerekT
I would set the DRAM to AUTO and reboot and then post a CPU-z of your CPU, Memory and SPD tabs on the new dram please.
Fazer69
Hi, Sorry it’s been so long for my follow up, but the stick has only just arrived. Anyway, please find screens below, I do notice that it is showing PC-5300, but it was meant to be PC-5400… :sigh!: I will be getting another soon, with the same ref number VS1GB667D2. Will they run in dual okay? Thanks for your time. http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/4289/untitled1xp9.jpg http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/8594/untitled2jp0.jpg http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/1335/untitled3xn7.jpg

DerekT
Thank you. This ram is guaranteed to work at 675Mhz with timings of CL5. You will have to raise your FSB a bit to gain the 675Mhz. Set the DRAM to 667 and the FSB to 270MHz. Check your bandwidth in the CPU-z memory tab. Please post a screenshot. PC5400 is not a JDEC standard value so Corsair sets the SPD to PC5300 but the DRAM is tested to work at PC5400 speeds.
Fazer69
Hi, Thanks for your help with this, but I'm a bit lost on the memory side. Could you please explain how to "Set the DRAM to 667 and the FSB to 270MHz." I've looked in the bios, and I cant see a memory part, whether the bios is locked as it is mainly a Mesh built machine, or are these timings somewhere else? Thanks again
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 8, 2007 You will have to over clock your CPU to get the memory to 275 Mhz!
