peacekeeper
Hello, I purchased twin2048-3200c2 memory from newegg. I run gentoo, and occasionally gcc seg faults. Whenever gcc seg faults, it's a hardware issue. After pulling out one of my sticks, the problem still happened. After substituting it with the other module gcc compiles completed fine. I just tried to complete the online RMA process, but it mentioned that because I bought the memory in a set, I should be sure to return both modules. That would obviously leave me without a running system. Is that really necessary? Can I just send back the bad module, or do I need to send both? Thanks, Carl
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 2, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 2, 2007 Please set the Dim Voltage to 2.7X volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have (Cass 2-3-3-6 with the Rass to Cass set to "3"), and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
