Bad Module - TWINX2048-6400

Hi,

I Buy a new system with TWINX2048-6400 2gb (2x 1gb).

I was getting a lot of errors in Windows and Dos, I think maybe its the Bios (EVGA 680i) everybody know all issues about this chipset... I Flash my bios to the new p23 and still get the same errors... Then I think maybe its the memory.

I test my modules with memtest86+ v1.65. and get this results:

Test 1 - (2 modules).

2 modules working in Slot 1 and 3

Get a lot of errors in memtest86+ :[pouts:

Then I Remove my 2 modules and insert only 1.

Test 2 - (1 module)

1st module working in Slot 1

No Errors in memtest86+ :D:

Then I Remove my good module and insert another.

Test 3 - (1 module)

2nd Module working in Slot 1

A lot of errors in memtest86+ :[pouts:

Im working now with the good module and I dont have any issues in 6 hours.

Any suggestion for my problems? Need to RMA this modules ?

Thanks

You will need to be running a 1066 FSB CPU to run the memory at 800 Mhz with this MB other wise DDR667 would be suggested!

Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Hi thanks for your answer

Like I say before, I test the 2 modules together and 1 at time... with 2 modules I get a lot of errors in memtest.

If I test my modules 1 at time only 1 module gets errors on memtest and 1 works perfect.

I have the lastest bios of my evga 680i and I have Intel E6600 CPU - FSB 1066.

My system is on default settings ... I dont like OC, What timmings you suggest for this memory ? Im going to set up the voltage of my mem to 2.1 like u say and disable legacy USB tomorrow to run the test again.

Thanks
