Highplain
I am building a reasonably good box for a friend and was mystified as to why XP had a tough time loading. Suspected a bad XP disk. It turns out the problem is with the Corsair memory (TWIN2X2048-5400C4). Both sticks used in tandem fail badly in memtest. One stick used by itself shows no errors, the other will not even boot the machine. This is the first time I've used Corsair. Previously, I have had flawless performance from Micron, Crucial, Kingston etc.... I am also building two high-end workstations for the company, both ordered with Corsair XMS2. If any of those are faulty then my current opinion of Corsair's QC process will be confirmed. There is no way this pair of XMS2 could have been tested. I have also seen the Corsair RMA horror stories on this board (I should have read this board before my purchases) and I will wait and see how my request is processed. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 26, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 26, 2006 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

No manufacturer has 0% problems, hence RMAs existing. I have also seen the Corsair RMA horror stories on this board (I should have read this board before my purchases) and I will wait and see how my request is processed. This is a TECHNICAL SUPPORT FORUM. Hence, technical problems are posted. No real reason for people to post "It Works". You're only seeing one side of the coin.
