vinnieh1
i, I'm building a system with the following: ASUS P5N-E SLI 1G Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 - CM2X1024-6400 Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 XFX 7600GT Video Card 160G SATA HD Lite-on SATA DVD-R drive After installing my system, the fans spin for about 2 seconds and then turn off. I can't get the system to post. So, as I am debugging, I see that the ASUS manual states that only the Corsair CM2X1024-6400C4 is compatible with this MB. Will my stick of memory not work because the timings are too high? Do I need to get another stick of memory to match? Thanks in advance for any responses ... Wired
moved to correct area. higher timings are in fact looser. in otherwords, the timings are the amounts of delays in various parts of the memory. looser = more compatible http://compatible.corsairmemory.com
DerekT
I would check to make certain that you have installed the CPU Fan/Heatsink Assembly correctly. These LGA775 Fan/Heatsink Assemblies need to be pressed down on the CPU with quite some force or the system will fail to post and shut the system down. smiley92614
Your Asus P5N-E SLI bios version is important - Updated it to latest to fix memory compatibility issues. Your power supply should be at least 600 Watts if you are overclocking. I have similiar settings as yours. Asus P5N-E SLI Ultra Infinity 600W ZALMAN CNPS7700 cooling fan Eva Geforce 7600 GT Two CM2X1024-6400 (XMS6405v5.2) 800Mhz (1GB Dimm) in yellow slots. 5-5-5-12-2T Overclocked: Unlinked 1500 FSB/950Mhz Memory => 3.0Ghz Stable passed all memtest+ (temp:cpu 50c/mb 44c) This is a 40% increased in CPU speed. My only issue is trying to used two more CM2X1024-6400. My cpu temp isnt cooler than I expected like others below 45c with my case open to the room.
