raziour
Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 duo core, and wanting to upgrade it so I bought some RAM the other day. I bought Value Select 512 DDR2 200-PIN So-DIMM 533Mhz RAM as it is compatible (which I checked ont he site) with my socket. However, the computer is only seeing 256 mb and not the full 512. There are no stability issues of any kind, and the computer doesn't crash when being pushed to the peak. I am wondering how would I get it to recognize the fiull 512mb? thanks -Rob

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2006 Did you look up your MB or system on our Memory Configurator? And as long as you are not mixing memory you might be able to use these modules but I would suggest getting the latest bios from the system builder if you have not done so yet. DerekT
I am wondering how would I get it to recognize the fiull 512mb? Do you have another 512MB stick that you can install to test? It seems as though you might have a motherboard issue. Is your system still under a warranty?
raziour
The RAM I bought I checked to make sure its compatible, and it seems that it should be. I updated my bios to the latest version and the problem remains. I have two RAM sticks, one DELL @ 512 megs same DDR2 533 setting and its fine. I tried just installing the Corsair RAM by itself and it still only shows up at 256 megs with the updated bios. I ran every diagnostic feasible on my memory and it shows up fine, I just do not understand why its not reading the full 512. thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 22, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 22, 2006 The correct part# would be CMSS512MB-533SOD, what is the part of the module you are using? And have you check to make sure that you have the latest bios?
