littlehogarth
Upgrading 3 HP servers and needed to know if Corsair Ram will work or if I should stick to HP generic to be safe. Servers are: 1. two HP DL385 Opteron 252 - 2.6GHz, 1024 MB DDR PC3200 SDRAM servers that we have just purchased. The final solution is to have 2 x dual Opteron 252 chips with 4GB of Ram to run as terminal servers. I was thinking I could bump the two original 1024 MB DDR PC3200 SDRAM sets into one server and add a Twinx2048RE-3200 set to boost it to 4GB and then put two Twinx2048RE-3200 in the other also to make 4GB. Would that work? Theoretical Solution Server 1: 4 x 512MB HP original SDRam + 2 x 1GB Twinx2048RE-3200 Server 2: 4 x 1GB Twinx2048RE-3200 2. a DL585 Opteron 852 Server with 2 processors and 4GB Ram. Am adding two new processors to that, but each needs its own Ram. Will Twinx2048RE-3200 work smoothly on the two new processors if the old ones have the HP memory? Server 3: Processor 1: 2 x 1GB PC3200 400MHZ DDR SDRAM (HP Original) Processor 2: 2 x 1GB PC3200 400MHZ DDR SDRAM (HP Original) Processor 3: 2 x Twinx2048RE-3200 Processor 4: 2 x Twinx2048RE-3200
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 19, 2006 You should be using CM72SD1024RLP-3200 with this system.
littlehogarth
CM72SD1024RLP-3200 will take up all four banks with 512MB pairs to get the required 4GB memory. I was thinking it was better to use half the slots with 1GB pairs and leave some banks free if more memory is needed later? Is there a 2048 Corsair combination for servers? Also with the combinations: can you have hp ram mixed with corsair ram for the same processor? ie DL385 with 1GB hp + 3 x CM72SD1024RLP-3200 can you have 1GB pair mixed with a 2GB pair for the same processor? ie DL385 with 2 x 1GB hp and 1 x 2GB hp Thanks again for your help identifying server specific Ram. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2006 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 21, 2006 I do not see this system listed on our memory configurator, so I would sugegst using the memory suggested by HP.
