I have had my new system now for over a month and havent been able to use it.

Got prob narrowed down to mem.

It just wasnt compatible.

I am sending memory back that i have now and getting TWIN2X2048-5400C4.

This was on list as compatible, i just want to make sure this time.

Ive been reading that i may have to up the voltage and mess w/ timing.

Which ive never done before.

Whatever happened to just buying memory putting it in and poof! ur good to go?

My system

Intel 975xbx

intell 6600

bfg 7950x2

Raptor 150 GB 10K rpm

I understand your feelings of frustration. When ram was set to the JDEC standard then all memory ran pretty much at a stock setting. You can still do this if you set your memory to stock, but if you extend past the JDEC settings then you need to increase voltages to get the increased bandwith and tighter latency.

If you buy 533Mhz dram and set your processor and ram to all auto settings, you should be fine, but if you run the ram higher than the CPU or try for the advertised higher timings then you need to increase the voltages.

Keep in mind that Corsair warrants this dram to 2.1v lifetime.
