eallred
Greetings: I built a system from parts I picke dup from NewEgg about a month ago. The main components are; Asus P5N32-SLI SE Intel 6600 /2.4ghz Corsair Value Select 2gb - VS2GBKIT533D2 I also have dual video cards in the machine. Everything has been working great up until a couple of days ago when I started getting errors every time I tried loading World of Warcraft, Neverwinternights 2 or Battlefield 2142. Each results in a memory violation error, either on load or within 2-3 minutes of gameplay. I have also gotten some spontaneous reboots as well. I am not doing any overclocking at this point. Just letting the mobo choose the most appropriate settings. I downloaded the ISO image for Memtest-86 v3.2 and have run it against the machine. With the base test I get a significant number of errors across a variety of the tests. This run it shows around 50,086 errors. What steps should I take to resolve the issue? It looks like a bad ram module to me. eallred
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 14, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 14, 2006 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
eallred
Windows looks pretty unstable - I am unable to get the bios update utilizty to run without crashing with a memory violation. I set voltage to 2.1v and disabled legacy USB support. I will get the modules tested in singles and will also install a floppy and update the bios that way. While it may be the bios, I have been running this configuration for a onth now, so I doubt that is the problem.
eallred
ok - I tested the modules out individually - The first one went through all of the tests without an issue - the 2nd module is failing most of the tests. It is on test #4 and already has 23,000 failures. I would suspect the problem is related to that module. The question is, do I return the individual module or the pair?
