steveabryan
Hi I have just purchased a CMX1024-3200C2PRO for use with my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard. When I turned my system on after installing the new memory, Windows starts to load and then the system reboots. If I remove the new memory and re-install my old memory the system boots fine. Have a purchased the wrong memory module or could it be faulty? Any idea's in what the problem could be? Any help would be great.:o:
DerekT
It could be that your system is inconsistent with the previous settings (BIOS) and your new ram. Have you reset your CMOS BIOS? I would turn the system off, set your BIOS jumper, remove the power cord and press the power button. Set your BIOS jumper back to the original posts. Restart your system. Enter your BIOS and set your timings to 2 - 3 - 3 - 6, 1T with 2.7v Vdimm. Do the issues remain?
steveabryan
Thanks for the reply. Right then, I've just reset the CMOS using the instructions in the Asus manual but could not find anything in the BIOS which allows me to set the timings. I restarted my system anyway and got the same problem. My system passes all the BIOS self tests and displays the boot menu as I have more than one OS installed. It's only when I choose Windows XP my system restarts but it works okay with my old memory.
steveabryan
I think I have now found these settings but I'm unsure how to set them. I have found a page titled DRAM Configuration with the following settings. Timing Mode = Auto Memclock index value (Mhz) = 400Mhz CAS latency (Tcl) = 3 Min RAS# active time(Tras) = 8T RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) = 3T Row precharge Time (Trp) = 3T Row cycle time (Trc) = 11T Row refresh cyc time(Trfc) = 14T Read-to-Write time(Trwt) = 5T Write Recovery time(Twr) = 3T 1T/2T Memory Timing = 2T What settings do I need to change to reflect your suggestion of 2-3-3-6,1T? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2006 Please try these settings and I would leave the command Rate at 2t with your system. Memory Voltage should be set to 2.75 Volts Timing Mode = Manual Memclock index value (Mhz) = 400Mhz CAS latency (Tcl) = 2 Min RAS# active time(Tras) = 6T RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) = 3T Row precharge Time (Trp) = 3T Row cycle time (Trc) = 11T Row refresh cyc time(Trfc) = 14T Read-to-Write time(Trwt) = 5T Write Recovery time(Twr) = 3T 1T/2T Memory Timing = 2T
steveabryan
Thanks for quick response. I have changed the settings to what you suggested but I still have the same problem. Systems boots up and displays my boot menu, I choose Windows XP Pro (32bit) and then the system reboots. Could it faulty memory?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2006 Are you mixing this memory with other memory? And was this O.S. or HDD setup and installed with this MB or was it a carry over install from another system?
steveabryan
This is the only memory in my system, I took my old 512mb PC2700 out. The OS was installed in this machine with the Asus mobo.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 13, 2006 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 13, 2006 Please make sure that you have the latest bios and then load setup defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, and then test the module/modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with this MB you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
steveabryan
I think I'll have to follow the link in you signature. I have the latest BIOS v1016 and I cannot test the memory using the http://www.memtest.org as cannot get the system up and running. I only one one module and I also cannot test it in another system. Thanks for your help.

steveabryan
Hi, I have decided to return the memory back to dabs.com where I purchased it instead of returning back to Corsair. They have given me a FULL refund :D: I have now purchased TWINX1024-3200C2PT which should be here in a couple of days. Can I use the same settings that you have stated in your previous reply? Steve PS. In the mean time my Hiper Type R 580watt modular PSU has just busted after 1 year and 17 days of use. Just my luck!! I just hope it's not damaged my mobo or proc.
